FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cincinnati, OH - 2002 Telly Awards Winners and Finalists are announced. Judging for the 24th Annual Telly Awards has been completed and winners have been notified. The Telly Awards was founded in 1980, to showcase and give recognition to outstanding non-network and cable TV commercials. Now in its 24th year, the Telly Awards has become a well known, highly respected competition for people who create commercials, films and videos.
Nearly 11,000 entries were received for the 2002 Telly Awards competition. Of that number only 7-10% are chosen as winners and 14-18% are chosen as finalists. Rather than compete against each other, the entries are judged based on a high standard of excellence. This year we received entries from all 50 states as well as Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Each year, the judges consist of a group of well over twenty highly qualified production professionals. For the past several years, all judges have previously won a silver Telly.
The Telly Awards is affiliated with the Center for Creativity, an organization that traces its roots back to 1963 when a major survey of starting salaries in the advertising industry was conducted and published. Soon, other research articles on advertising effectiveness followed in publications such as the Journal of Advertising Research, Journalism Quarterly and the Journal of Typographic Research.
David Carter, Administrator of the Telly Awards had this to say about this year's competition, "Each year we see more and more great work and this year was no exception. These companies enter only their very best work, so earning recognition as a winner or a finalist is a significant accomplishment in itself."
